Ceiling panels require a lifting and temporary-support plan.

In short: lift with rated equipment, keep people out from below and lock panels only when fully supported and aligned.

Check walls are square and level first. Place ceiling panels in the shop-drawing order and protect their edges. Longer spans, often around 2.5 m or more, may need temporary support or a separate structural check.

Never walk on the cold-room ceiling unless it is specifically designed and approved for that load. Refrigeration units, pipes and services may need independent support.

Step-by-step

  1. Provide temporary support for spans over ~2.5 m — props or a support beam hold panels during fitting.
  2. Lift the first panel with adequate manpower or lifting gear and rest it on the wall tops; the ceiling edge profiles mate with the wall-panel tops.
  3. Align and engage the cam-locks between ceiling and walls.
  4. Add subsequent ceiling panels, locking panel-to-panel exactly like wall joints.
  5. Inspect from inside — any daylight at a ceiling-to-wall joint means an incomplete seal.

Overhead hazard

Ceiling panels can weigh 30–60 kg and are handled overhead. Never work beneath an unsecured panel. Keep it fully supported and do not release it until all cam-locks are engaged. Use panel lifters or suction cups for overhead handling, and keep the team clear of the load path.

With the ceiling locked and the envelope closed, the next component is the most-used part of the room — the door.

PPE + two-person lift call-out card — two installers carry a panel together, with steel-toe boots, cut-resistant gloves, safety glasses and a hard hat for overhead work labelled; a single-person "no" symbol crosses out a solo lift.
