Door installation depends on how it is supplied.

In short: a pre-hung door panel is installed with the wall; a separate frame follows its own instructions.

Keep the frame vertical and square, support the leaf and check an even gap. After locking adjacent panels, confirm the latch engages without lifting or forcing the door.

Test the gasket around the whole perimeter and adjust the approved hardware if required. Check the closer, handle and inside emergency release before handover.

If a new door will not seal, inspect wall alignment and frame geometry before replacing the gasket.

Two supply forms

  • Pre-hung door — arrives mounted in its own panel with frame, hinges, and handle. It installs like any wall panel and is typically the last wall panel fitted.
  • Separate door and frame — the frame is set into a prepared opening, then the leaf is hung on the hinges.

Fitting a pre-hung door

  1. Position the door panel in the opening.
  2. Check plumb and level on both jambs and across the head — the frame must be true or the door will never seal evenly.
  3. Engage cam-locks to the adjacent wall panels.
  4. Cycle the door several times — it should swing freely without binding and close firmly onto the gasket.
  5. Check gasket contact all round with the door shut: even compression, no visible gaps. Adjust hinges if needed.
  6. Test the internal safety release. Step inside, close the door, and confirm you can open it from within even with the external handle locked. This is non-negotiable on every cold room.

Why alignment matters most here

Every cold-room door cycle pulls the gasket against the frame. If the frame is even slightly out of true, compression is uneven, warm humid air leaks at the gap, and condensation drives into the joint over time. Get the frame true first; adjust hinges only to fine-tune even contact — never to compensate for a racked frame.

With the door cycling cleanly and the safety release confirmed, the build moves to its final stage: sealing the envelope and commissioning the room.
