Usually safe tasks include recording temperature, checking doors, arranging stock, cleaning accessible surfaces, clearing permitted drains and starting a manual defrost from the user menu.
In short: stop before removing tool-secured covers or touching fans, wiring, heaters, pipes or fittings.
Do not change service parameters. If a simple action gives only temporary relief, report the root problem.
Safe operator tasks
These tasks are appropriate for trained operators. None of them open the refrigerant circuit or expose you to mains-side faults.
| Task | Notes | See also |
|---|---|---|
| Clean condenser coils | Soft brush or compressed air; unit isolated first | Cleaning & maintenance schedule |
| Clear a blocked drain | Pour warm water through to confirm flow | Ice & condensation issues |
| Adjust thermostat / setpoint | Confirm against an independent thermometer | Temperature problems |
| Replace a door gasket | Maintenance item; use the paper-note test after | Door problems |
| Adjust door hinges | Realign for even gasket compression | Door problems |
| Apply sealant to a panel joint | Re-seal and check cam-lock tension | Panel specifications |
| Trigger a manual defrost | Via the controller; clears light evaporator ice | Ice & condensation issues |
| Rearrange stored products | Keep 100 mm clearance around the evaporator | Temperature problems |
| Check the isolator switch is ON | Visual check only — do not open covers or test voltage; leave electrical measurements to a qualified technician | — |
Know when to stop
If a fix from this list does not hold — for example, a freshly replaced gasket still ices up, or a clean condenser does not restore temperature — treat that as a signal the root cause sits deeper.
Stop and escalate the moment a task would require you to:
- Open or recover refrigerant from the sealed circuit
- Work inside an electrical panel or on mains-side wiring
- Replace an electrical component (defrost heater, fan motor, controller board)
Those belong to a certified refrigeration technician.
