- Remove products and loose debris.
- Use a soft cloth and material-compatible cleaner.
- Work from top to bottom.
- Rinse if the chemical requires it.
- Dry surfaces and joints.
- Sanitise under the hygiene plan.
In short: do not scratch the coating or force water into Cam-Lock joints.
Clean whenever visibly dirty and at the risk-based interval. Report cut, blistered or exposed metal surfaces; disinfection cannot repair a damaged finish.
The surface you are cleaning
The inner skin is a smooth, food-safe lacquered steel (or AISI 304 stainless in washdown rooms) over a PUR-insulated panel. It is engineered to be wiped clean, so it needs method, not muscle: abrasives scratch the finish and create dirt traps, and bleach corrodes the steel.
Frequency: weekly — or daily/per-shift in food-processing and high-care environments.
Step by step
- Remove products from the section you are cleaning.
- Dry-remove loose debris with a soft brush or dry cloth before introducing any water.
- Mix a food-safe detergent with warm water per the label.
- Apply with a soft cloth or sponge, working top to bottom so soiled water runs onto not-yet-cleaned surfaces.
- Rinse with clean water to clear detergent residue.
- Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth to prevent moisture build-up.
- Sanitise if your food-safety plan (e.g. HACCP) requires it, observing the contact time.
Why method matters
Panels are built to last the room's 15–20-year service life, but only if the wipe-clean finish is preserved. Standing water is the other risk: damp-wipe rather than flood, because water pooled on the floor can seep under panels and trapped moisture in joints freezes in low-temperature rooms.
For the construction behind that wipe-clean surface — skins, PUR core, and joints — see Panel specifications.
