Frostbox Algor panels combine coated steel skins, a rigid PUR insulation core and Cam-Lock joints.

In short: the standard skins are 0.5 mm white coated steel, commonly RAL 9010. Stainless AISI 304 may be specified where required. The PUR core is about 40 kg/m³.

The joint uses a shaped edge, flexible seal, cam and steel pin. Closing the lock pulls the panels together and compresses the seal.

Wall panels come in widths from 400 to 1,200 mm in 200 mm steps. Exact module sizes depend on the room drawing. Typical Frostbox thicknesses are 80 and 100 mm for chillers and 100 and 120 mm for freezers.

Do not assume that thickness alone proves fire, hygiene or structural performance. Use the current declaration and data sheet for the exact product.

Panel construction

Every MTH Algor panel — wall, ceiling, or floor — shares the same sandwich construction. The five components below explain almost all of the panel's thermal, hygienic, and structural behaviour.

ComponentSpecification
Outer skinPre-lacquered galvanised steel, 0.5 mm, white RAL 9010 standard. Optional stainless steel AISI 304 for hygienic / washdown applications.
Insulating coreRigid polyurethane foam (PUR), density 40 kg/m³, CFC/HCFC-free; fire behaviour as per the MTH declaration of performance (available on request). Thermal conductivity typical for PUR (≈ 0.022–0.024 W/m·K).
Inner skinPre-lacquered galvanised steel, 0.5 mm, food-safe coating, smooth finish for hygiene and easy cleaning.
Joint systemTongue-and-groove profile with an embedded cam-lock mechanism. Eccentric steel cams engage steel pins under mechanical tension.
GasketPre-applied PVC or EPDM gasket seated in the panel groove, compressed by cam-lock tension to form an airtight, condensation-resistant seal.

The core is PUR (not PIR), so panels are not presented with PIR-grade Euroclass or EN 14509 fire ratings; the MTH declaration of performance is available on request.

Sandwich panel construction, exploded — outer steel skin with a plastisol coating, rigid PUR foam core of about 40 kg/m³ and inner steel skin with a food-safe coating (optionally AISI 304 stainless); a dimension line gives the panel thicknesses 80, 100 and 120 mm.

The cam-lock joint

The defining feature of a cam-lock cold room is the joint, not the foam. Each panel edge carries an eccentric cam on one side and a steel pin on the mating side. A hex key turned through an access port rotates the cam; as it rotates it grips the pin and draws the two panels together under high mechanical tension. This does three things at once:

  • Pulls the tongue-and-groove profile fully home, so the foam cores meet with no thermal gap (no "cold bridge").
  • Compresses the pre-applied gasket in the groove, creating the airtight seal that keeps humidity out and cold in.
  • Locks the panels structurally, so a room can be assembled — and later disassembled and relocated — with hand tools, no adhesives or welding.

Because the cams are internal and the skins are continuous, a correctly locked joint leaves a flush, wipe-clean internal surface with a single visible seam line.

Cam-lock joint section — the tongue of panel A sits in the groove of panel B, where a gasket is compressed when the joint is locked; an eccentric cam in panel A, turned with a hex key through the inner face, hooks a steel pin in panel B and pulls the panels together with up to 400 kg per hook.
