Product Description

Modular Cold Room MTH ALGOR 100mm (2380×4380×2580mm)

Made in Italy by MTH — Europe’s leading manufacturer of modular cold room systems

Your Model’s Configuration

Internal Dimensions 2180 × 4180 × 2380 mm
External Dimensions 2380 × 4380 × 2580 mm
Panel Thickness 100 mm — PUR foam, 40 kg/m³
Standard Door 900 × 2000 mm with Equa safety handle

A Cold Room That Earns Its Keep

Heat wants to get inside your cold room. Every hour of every day. If the insulation has gaps, if the joints are weak, if the panels don’t seal properly — your compressor works overtime. Your electricity bill climbs. Your products are at risk.

ALGOR is built to win that fight. Every panel, every door, every hinge and lock in this system comes from one manufacturer — MTH in Italy. Not assembled from five different suppliers. Designed, engineered, and produced under one roof. The result: components that fit together precisely, because they were made to.

Panel Construction: Three Layers, One Job

Every ALGOR panel is a composite sandwich built for one purpose — stopping heat transfer while taking daily punishment from forklifts, carts, shelves, and chemical washdowns.

Layer Material Function
Outer Skin Pre-lacquered galvanised steel (0.5 mm), plastisol coating, RAL 9010 Takes impacts. Resists corrosion. Handles aggressive cleaning chemicals.
Insulating Core Rigid PUR foam, 40 kg/m³ density, λ = 0.022 W/mK. CFC/HCFC-free. Blocks heat transfer. The denser the foam, the fewer thermal shortcuts through the panel.
Inner Skin Pre-lacquered galvanised steel (0.5 mm), food-safe coating, smooth finish No pores for bacteria. No textures that trap dirt. Wipe clean, spray down, disinfect daily.

Optional: AISI 304 stainless steel finish for pharmaceutical or heavy-chemical environments.

The Joint: Tongue-and-Groove Meets Cam-Lock

This is where cheap cold rooms fail. The panels themselves might be fine — but the joints between them leak heat, collect moisture, and degrade over time. ALGOR uses a dual-system connection that solves this mechanically, not chemically.

Step 1 — Tongue-and-groove profile. Precisely shaped panel edges create a labyrinthine joint. Heat and moisture can’t travel in a straight line through the connection. They hit a wall at every turn.

Step 2 — Cam-lock hooks. Steel cams are embedded inside the panel edge. You insert a hex key into the access port and turn. The cam rotates, grabs a steel pin in the neighbouring panel, and pulls. Hard. Up to 400 kg of force per hook. This drags the panels together and crushes the pre-applied gasket flat. The result is a joint under constant mechanical tension — not glue that can degrade, not screws that can loosen.

No external plastic corner pieces. No silicone sealant holding the structure together. Just steel, compression, and a gasket that stays compressed because physics demands it.

Cam-lock engagement: the hex key turns the cam, which pulls panels together under 400 kg of tension.

Door and Safety

The door is the most-used component and the primary point of thermal loss. ALGOR addresses both problems with a semi-recessed design — the door leaf sits partially inside the wall panel, protruding only about 54 mm on the outside. This saves space and creates a nearly flush surface for easy cleaning.

The PVC perimeter gasket seals the door when closed. For freezer applications (down to −25°C), a heating cable in the frame and threshold prevents ice build-up around the perimeter.

Equa handle — emergency exit as standard. Every ALGOR door comes with the MTH Equa handle, certified by CSI as an emergency exit device. If someone is locked inside, they can open the door from within. Glow-in-dark markings ensure visibility if lights fail. This is not an optional add-on — it is built in.

Floor

The standard floor panel is non-slip and engineered for heavy daily use. Static load capacity: minimum 1,500 kg. Point load: minimum 100 kg on a 40×40 mm area. You can roll carts over it, stack pallets on it, and clean it with industrial chemicals without degrading the surface.

For higher hygiene requirements, the room can be fitted with dedicated push-fit coved PVC hygienic profiles that cover internal corners — eliminating hard-to-reach dirt traps where walls meet floors.

Why ALGOR — and Not a Cheaper Alternative?

You can buy a cold room for less. That is a fact. But cheaper systems cut corners in places you won’t notice until the energy bill arrives, or the panels start sweating, or the door stops sealing after 18 months. Here is where the difference sits:

  ALGOR (MTH) Typical Budget Rooms
Panel joint Tongue-and-groove + cam-lock (400 kg tension). No external profiles. Flat joint with plastic corner profiles and silicone sealant. Gaps appear within months.
Insulation density PUR 40 kg/m³ — rigid, closed-cell, consistent R-value over time. Often 32–36 kg/m³. Lower density = faster thermal degradation, higher energy cost long-term.
Component source 100% MTH — panels, doors, hinges, locks, handles. Single factory, single quality standard. Assembled from multiple suppliers. Hinges from one factory, panels from another. Fit tolerance varies.
Safety handle CSI-certified emergency exit (Equa) as standard. Basic paddle handle. Emergency release often optional or absent.
Relocation Unlock cams, stack panels, transport. You own the room, not the landlord. Silicone joints break during disassembly. Panels often damaged and non-reusable.
Hygiene No external plastic profiles. Smooth surfaces. Optional coved hygienic profiles for corners. External plastic trim collects moisture, dirt, and bacteria at every joint.

The purchase price is one number. The total cost of ownership — energy, maintenance, compliance, lifespan, resale value — is a different number entirely. ALGOR is engineered for the second one.

Assembly

ALGOR panels are pre-fabricated and pre-fitted with cam-locks. Two trained installers can assemble a mid-sized room in one to two days. No specialist tools beyond a hex key (included). The sequence: floor panels first, walls, corners, ceiling, then the door.

The engineering is in the panel. The job on site is alignment and connection.
